"happiness in color" by Tinta China
Happy Monday!
Yeah, I know. I kind of want to beat me up for that one, too.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I spent mine inhaling paint fumes, as I repainted the office of the new pad (the former residents felt that GARISH ORANGE is an awesome color to languish in). The room is now a lovely peach, that kind of makes me want to lick the walls a bit. One room down, about 15 more to go! Let's look at some awesome links, shall we?
8 Ideas, Techniques & Tricks for your Web Design Toolkit: I have recently discovered the website, psdtuts.com, and since, have been drooling over every single tutorial I encounter. This particular article is essential for the modern web designer. Remember, a FAST designer is always the ideal, and these tricks are sure to quicken the entire creation process.
Linda Linda Linda: Me and my sister, LINDA, watched this yesterday (my sister rather insisted we do). The story centers around 4 Japanese high school girls trying to get their band ready to play the school's festival. The story is very heartwarming and genuine - my sister, who lived in Japan for 2 years, kept commenting about how actual everything portrayed was. Add to that a music score written by former Smashing Pumpkin, James Iha, and you have a movie that you should definitely not miss.
Roberto Cavalli, Spring 2009: Go behind the scenes and learn how to create the sultry, Brigitte Bardot look used on the runway this season.
The Dark Lord of Logos: An interview and gallery review of the work of Christophe Szpajdel, black metal band logo god.
The Good Wife’s Guide: My friend Robert sent this to me, to help me prepare myself for wife-dom. This 1950's list of tips for wives is a funny, indicative lesson on just how far we've actually come. Remember, "A good wife always knows her place."
Make Over Your Office Accessories: This slideshow has some great ideas on how you can organize and jazz up your plain jane office: from using metal trays as magnetic bulletin boards, to decorating your file folders with awesome papers. Sometimes it's the little things that turn something from blah to fantastic.
Finally, I cannot stop listening to the Killer's new song, "Human," though there has been some criticism of Brandon Flower's tuxedo jacket with plumed epaulettes. Let me make this clear: The jacket is GORGEOUS. This is EXACTLY what I want to see my musicians wearing. And for the record, it severely annoys me that whenever a musician tries to break out and make an artistic statement through their garb, every disgruntled music journalist is quick to call them a nutter. Boo. Anyway, enjoy...
